The Moon enters Gemini after a void that lasts from 11:08 am till 3:43 pm ET. The best times to accomplish things are either before or after the void. Once the Moon enters Gemini it will build towards the full moon culminating on Saturday, December 18 at 11:36 pm. For the next two days and through the weekend watch the information that comes to light. This information is tying up the recent eclipses and may reveal important facts that you've been waiting to receive. Answers may be just around the corner even if they're not necessarily the ones you want to hear. This is the time to hear what you need to hear in order to have the full story. The eclipse energy formally comes to some sort of conclusion but like life itself there is much more going on in the cosmos, so while you may get some answers to an important issue that has been hounding you, the upcoming Venus retrograde as well as a final square between Saturn and Uranus continue to force us to solve other problems. After all part of the joy of living is old doors closing and new ones opening. Chiron is slowing down and about to turn direct on Sunday, December 19th, the same day as Venus turns retrograde. This adds to healing certain health issues and chronic problems. Covid levels have spiked up and if you're one of those that have caught it recently the station of Chiron turning direct should help in the healing process. For everyone there should be something in your life of a chronic sort whether psychological, physical, emotional or spiritual that can find forward momentum towards healing. It's time to do more than just put another band aid on an old festering wound. How about a new vision and tackling the problem with more courage and a warrior spirit? This weekend is the last Solar Eclipse of the year and the last one in Sagittarius until December 5, 2029. Since this is the last Solar Eclipse in this sign for a while there is a new beginning on Sagittarian themes based upon what we’ve learned and experienced over the past two years. That accrued knowledge, if used wisely, can put us on a new path and adventure towards a brighter future. That is, if you’d like to interpret the Sagittarius culmination as having gained wisdom by learning a lesson in a hopeful and optimistic way. Sagittarius isn’t known for putting to use its knowledge and lessons because after all that takes too much work and effort (Capricorn/Saturn) and sometimes Sagittarius can be very lazy in implementing that which it has learned. It’s too busy enjoying its freedom, and love of adventure and fun. Let’s see. This cycle of eclipses began at the height of the pandemic in June 2020 and lasted until now. Sagittarius and Gemini have colored the lens through which we have seen this pandemic as well as focused our attention on the themes and subjects of those signs. Gemini has to do with the collection of information while Sagittarius deciphers and disseminates it. So much of our world view has been colored by the way the media collects information on the pandemic and then broadcasts it out to the world at large. We have a 24/7 news cycle which repeats and repeats the news and is very biased about what the truth is and then alters the so-called irrefutable truth within 24 hours as some new information comes to light. Sagittarius is a mutable sign, so today’s truth isn’t necessarily tomorrow’s truth as new information comes to light. Some see this as adaptable while in certain contexts it comes out as lying and unreliability. While Sagittarius is a truth seeker (as long as it incorporates Gemini’s talent for fact finding) it is also is a gross liar, over exaggerator and likes to often form opinions without getting the facts. Gemini/Sagittarius is an education and communication polarity and look how much those systems have transformed throughout the world as we have been forced to adapt to new methods of teaching, education, socializing and learning? This is a travel polarity and how much has travel changed over the past two years? Sagittarius is a legal sign; look at all the laws that have been adapted regarding how we travel and the restriction to our ability to travel, be free and come and go as we please, a liberty the sign Sagittarius usually takes for granted. This pandemic is an airborne virus (Gemini) so we mask up not to breathe on others and it spreads fast, quickly and over large areas of space without restriction (Sagittarius). This Solar Eclipse is about making a new beginning on all the above-mentioned Sagittarius themes based upon the two-year period that preceded it. Will the pandemic spread further and continue to mutate, or will it be controlled, and will we regain our travel freedoms? With Jupiter about to enter Pisces, the sign of its dignity, I would like to think there is more hope for the pandemic to be dealt with in ways the help others and society through compassion, empathy and outreach. The new eclipse polarity will now be in Taurus/Scorpio for approximately 18 months and that will be about spending money on infrastructure and how we support the foundations of our society. How we treat the Earth, and our environment will increase in focus. MONEY AND POWER AND GREED. Who do you trust and to whom will you make a commitment? I’ve talked about the eclipse in terms of our society but the same thing occurs on a personal level, so you apply the interpretation to your chart based upon the houses, signs and planets and that’s what a professional Astrologer does for their clients in a personal consultation. If you've been following my Facebook blog for the past 10 years you know that I've talked frequently about eclipses. One of the things I have stressed over and over is that during eclipse season we often see deaths of famous or infamous people who were leaders in their field. Men and women of high stature and honors who have contributed something to society and the world on a collective level even if that contribution may have brought great harm or division. Yesterday we lost one of the Titans (and I don't use that term loosely) of the musical comedy world. Composer Stephen Sondheim died at 91. He was the foremost composer of his generation and redefined the entire genre of musical comedy into something more sophisticated, cerebral and psychological. All the while not losing his supreme gift for entertaining generations of fans. He took an old art form that he greatly respected, learned from the best and then transformed it into something new, richer and deeper. He built on the past, learned from his teachers and led the way for the future and passed on his gift to a newer generation ready to shift the art form once again. This man was a GIANT in the industry and everyone knew it even if you weren't necessarily a fan. His legacy and imprint on 20th century musical iconography is mind boggling!!! He started first writing the lyrics to WEST SIDE STORY and GYPSY and afterwards he would write all the music and lyrics to his shows and that list is staggering: A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, COMPANY, FOLLIES, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, PACIFIC OVERTURES, SWEENEY TODD, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and INTO THE WOODS. There were others along the way as well as film work. Mr. Sondheim was an Aries Sun, Scorpio rising with Mars, and Mercury in Pisces. He had a very tight Moon/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn that tightly squared his Venus in Aries and that was the overriding signature in his chart and had much to do with his formative years with a monstrous mother and absent father. More about that on another post. Suffice to say he died between a Lunar Eclipse at 27 Taurus in his 7th house and the upcoming Solar Eclipse at 12 Sagittarius which falls in his 2nd and opposes his natal Jupiter in Gemini in the 8th. That eclipse indicates more of a long journey (Jupiter) of an 8th house kind (death). He most certainly fits into the category of people of great fame and achievement dying during the eclipse season. This energy usually comes in three's so let's see who else will depart this world and leave an equally stellar imprint (or infamous imprint for that matter). +4 See Insights Boost post 66 On the day before Thanksgiving, Mercury enters Sagittarius which is not the greatest placement for this planet for the busiest transportation day of the year. Mercury is in detriment in this sign so there is the potential for sloppiness when it comes to having things needing to be run like a finely tuned Swiss watch. There will be glitches in the systems because attention will not be paid to detail which is what busy times require. This is not a good time for the service industry and those jobs that require routine and high functioning to move people along in the most efficient manner. That being said give yourself plenty of time for your journey and try not to be in too much of a hurry. The chances of receiving misinformation are very high so double check everything!
The fiery nature of the day will lift spirits and help you solve any transportation glitches with energy and quick, innovative solutions. The Moon does make lovely trines to Mercury and the Sun so chances are your mood will be good to make the best of any challenging situations. There should be plenty of good cheer in the air amidst the chaos especially if you have travel companions. The expectation of meeting up with family and friends and the joy to be experienced by the evening's reunion for lavish holiday festivities makes any struggle well worthwhile. People will have good stories to tell! Yesterday and today Mercury triggers the recent lunar eclipse of November 19th so you may get important news via phone, text, mail or message that further heightens the information coming to light during this eclipse season.
The major aspect dominating the day is the Cancer Moon in trine to Neptune in Pisces. This is an excellent creative energy for disciplines linked towards helping yourself and others. The imagination has full reign to express itself. If you're not in a working frame of mind this energy lends itself very well towards escapist activities. It's a good day to get a head start on Thanksgiving cooking with the Cancer Moon supplying a nurturing and caring mood. The evening hours are a good time to uncover deeper relationship needs that need to be discussed, processed and transformed in some way. We are in the Sagittarius time of year so whatever is unraveled or revealed brings greater meaning and understanding. Look for explanations that clarify your opinion and point of view. We are smack in the middle of eclipse season so remember that energies continue to be heightened and over sensitized. Try not to make mountains out of molehills and take a deep breath and think very carefully before taking action, especially if you're acting from an overly emotional POV and responding in knee jerk fashion. Thursday night into Friday the Lunar Eclipse takes charge of the sky. This eclipse occurs at 27.14 degrees of Taurus. This is the first eclipse that ushers in a new polarity that will shift focus to the signs of Taurus/Scorpio for approximately the next 19 months. This axis has much to do with material security and emotional security. What talent and assets do you bring to the table in a relationship vs. what your partner supplies?
In society you will see big things happening with finance. There was a huge infrastructure bill just passed by the president and that is one of the events that heralds the entrance into the signs of money and power. Taurus and Scorpio care about the underbelly that holds things together. The depth and substance of who you are as a person as well as what supports the infrastructure of our society on a material and emotional level. With Uranus traveling through Taurus, we will continue to have an emphasis placed on money and how it is used, how it is changing and the continued development of crypto currencies. With a lunar eclipse in Taurus, you must ask what is of utmost value in your life? Do you value material things like money to the neglect of more spiritual types of values such as talent and that which brings more psychological substance? Who and what do you value and why? How do you support yourself and others? How are you working on your own private infrastructure to improve the quality of life? Taurus is a sign that has a tremendous amount to do with pleasure and indulgence in earthly delights. There could be a great culmination of seeking intense satisfaction over the weekend and in the coming weeks as the eclipse season is around through mid-December. Mars in Scorpio throughout the entire season will stimulate this eclipse in more aggressive ways through a heightened sexuality and drive for power and passion. People are renewing their health insurance at this time of year and the Scorpio/Taurus dynamic is all about seeking support from agencies that supply insurance, mortgages, loans as well as money received through death and inheritance. Taurus energy is very present in the moment and in the body. Whatever you're doing this weekend be seen and stand solid like a giant redwood. Make your presence known and show your dependability and loyalty by staying focused on the task at hand. Be aware of your body and do something that nurtures it in a pleasing and healthy way. Of course, indulgence is something that will be on heightened alert this weekend and through the Thanksgiving holiday. Pick one of the 7 deadly sins and enjoy with more abandonment. Be aware of the sensations streaming through the body like an electrical current that recharges and reconnects the body/mind connection. But know when to stop before you short circuit your inner wiring. Taurus is touchy feely sign and this may be the first holiday in a very long time where you're back in touch with family and friends who have been kept at a distance since the height of the pandemic. Reach out and touch someone, hug someone and kiss someone with less fear. When I write my astrology commentary in a forum like this by definition it has to be written in more general language that highlights planets, signs, houses and aspects with significations that everyone can relate to in archetypal ways. In a personal one-on-one consultation there is an opportunity to be more specific because I’m focusing on an individual and am able to do detailed client-based homework. The beauty of astrology is that because we are each born at specific places and times the movement of the planets will affect us differently based upon the condition of planets, signs and houses in the natal chart.
Yesterday, I made a general comment about the planet Mars being at the last degree of Libra and one of the ways that placement could be used in a positive way. In thinking of the planet/sign combination I wrote the following: “Actively pursue all forms of art and beauty. Take action to do something culturally enlightening through the day and night.” Mars is the warrior planet having to do with taking bold, assertive action and usually lights a fire under us for better or worse. Mars is also a malefic planet associated with war, violence, anger, rape and toxic masculinity/femininity. Libra is the sign of beauty, balance, harmony, art and partnership specifically the “opposite” or “other”. Libra is a war sign as well for in order to bring peace, balance and harmony into a situation there must be some sort of conflict into which Libra must insert itself. When a planet is at the last degree of a sign it often expresses itself in more extremely archetypal, sensitized and heightened ways. It screams out “pay attention to me!” Mars at the last degree of Libra would push the style of that sign towards an over the top manifestation. Knowing I had tickets to the Metropolitan Opera last night to see Puccini’s TURANDOT I had that in the back of my mind when writing the post. It would be a good pursuit for most people in a general way whether actively pursing an artistic endeavor or attending one. Here’s where the magic comes in when you’re able to get more specific. My Ascendant is at the last degree of Libra, where Mars was transiting last night. Whenever a planet crosses the angles (First, Fourth, Seventh or Tenth house cusps) things actively happen and manifest more noticeably as symbolized by one of the many meanings of the planetary/sign combination. The Ascendant (first house cusp) is particularly sensitive to ones personality, environment and ability to take action and give birth. Below are two paragraphs copied from the Wikipedia page describing the plot of the opera TURANDOT. When I read them I was overwhelmed by the astrological synchronicity and became full of wonder. The opera is an extremely archetypal expression of Mars at 29° of Libra. Here is a description of Princess Turandot’s opening Aria of female vengeance: “In the aria, Turandot explains that she conceived the three riddles as a test for any prince who might want to marry her. She explains that in the same palace, countless generations ago (thousands of years ago), a reigning Princess Lou-Ling was conquered by the King of the Tartars, raped and murdered. In particular, she dwells upon the Princess' final crying out and her moment of death at the hands of a man. Based on the memory and the concept of that crying out having been carried down through the many generations to Turandot herself, she resolves to avenge that death by imposing it on all men who fail in the attempt to marry her. She warns the prince that if he fails to answer any one of the three riddles, he will die. The climax of the aria occurs with the word "grido" ("outcry" or "crying out") and clearly Turandot is reliving and personifying the last moments of her ancestor, its outrage and its long awaited vengeance. Though Puccini first became interested in the subject matter when reading Friedrich Schiller’s 1801 adaptation, he based his work more closely on the earlier play Turandot (1762) by Count Carlo Gozzi. The original story is one of the seven stories in the epic Haft Peykar - a work by twelfth-century Persian poet Nizami (c. 1141-1209). Nizami aligned his seven stories with the seven days of the week, the seven colors, and the seven planets known in his era. This particular narrative is the story of Tuesday, as told to the king of Iran, Bahram V (r. 420–438), by his companion of the red dome, associated with Mars.” In review: Mars is energy in action, war, violence, murder, rape, revenge and killing. Libra is the sign of art, beauty, balance, marriage and harmony. The 29th degree is the grandiosity and extreme expression of the planetary/sign combination. Because Mars was crossing the sensitive degree of my Ascendant last night it connected me to the event in a personal way. All the Mars/Libra manifestations described above had access to enter my immediate environment. Luckily I was able to experience this energy positively through the vehicle of great art whose subject matter had to do with all the unsavory Martian energies described above, yet presented in the most grandiose artistic vision. And the cherry on top to the sundae is that I was treated to both front row, stage center seats and dinner at The Met Grand Tier restaurant. So it was truly an elegantly high style night celebrating the Libra energy and sending it out with a bang! Full Moon in Aries. This is a big one full of many, many realizations of furtive issues and challenges that have been ruminating for a very long time and can finally move ahead, directly and boldly into forward motion. There’s a new vision at hand based upon an awful lot of analysis, tears, purging and transformation.
This is due to the illumination that a full moon inherently brings, combined with the sign of Aries which signifies new beginnings and vision, at the degree of squaring transiting Pluto, who adds the element of unclogging the toilet bowl of life and loosening the grip of stuck shit and bile that has coagulated. Many lessons have been learned, some very painful and difficult and it’s time to lick and heal your wounds and move on. Think of yourself as a master plumber that has finally cleared years of built-up muck and grime from the drain or toilet. In a certain area of your life there should be a feeling of clearer breathing. You’ve been waiting to exhale and this is the lunation along with the forward motions in the past two weeks of Pluto, Saturn, Mercury and Jupiter that delivers that fresh air. A certain weight should be lifted. Yet, for some of you the culmination of this lunation combined with everything I described above may be the revelation of things coming to light that have been lurking beneath the surface. Stuff that you were suspicious about lurking in the subconscious in hidden, dark places making you paranoid and worried about trust issues……well, the light in this case is shining and illuminating those secrets and dark places and you may be in for a rude awakening or get confirmation that your suspicions were justified and you weren’t paranoid or crazy, but at least you will finally know where you stand. It’s always good to know where you stand because that provides clarity which leads to action. The overall tag line for this lunation, no matter what is going on in your life is: TAKE ACTION!! The Virgo New Moon is in full swing and its a rather good one. Virgo is the sign of industry, work, organization, focus, details and putting your talent to good use on a daily basis by constantly refining it, working with it and improving it. It's no coincidence that Labor Day falls during the Virgo time of year. This new moon chart is colored by many positive aspects so the next few days are a wonderful time to start new work projects, get things done and be highly productive.
The Sun/Moon conjunction is in a tight trine to Uranus in Taurus. This is a great aspect for showing off unique and unusual talents. It's time to break out of a rut and put your creativity to use in new and innovative ways. Throw out the old, worn out systems and take a risk with something more progressive that keeps you in step with modern times. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water but let go of that which is no longer serving a strong foundation towards success. The harmonious trine between Venus and Jupiter ensures that there will be plenty of people to help and guide you on the new path. This is a socially pleasing combination so don't be afraid to communicate and ask for help when you need it. Learn how to network in social and work settings whether in person or remotely. The Mars/Pluto trine is wonderful for asserting power in appropriate ways. This is not about bossing and bullying others but being assertive, courageous and a leader. There are great reserves of energy. Demonstrate leadership with intense action combined with great stamina. You can tell others what to do forcefully by taking the bull by the horn. Focus on the details and leave no stone unturned. This is all about asserting one's power without threatening. Instead work with others by combining joint resources that creates something greater. Everyone brings something to the table. One last thing, and its important, there's a relationship that is in the process of healing so listen to what the other has to say and gain some wisdom on how to heal the rift. Lead by example! Take advantage of the next two weeks with this new moon in full bloom - don't sit on your ass doing nothing!! Today is the Cancer New Moon. New Moons provide a burst of energy and emphasize the sign in our zodiac that takes some precedence over the next two weeks in a more active way. Cancer is a very self protective cardinal sign which means it may act in aggressive ways but not necessarily overt in the same way as Aries. As a matter of fact I always like to say that Cancer is Aries energy turned inside out. The fierce action this sign takes can often be triggered by unconscious urges that push ones fight or flight instincts. A good image around Cancerian energy is that of a Mother bear fighting to protect her cubs from outside danger. Cancer is very, very concerned with keeping a protective shell around its soft, delicate and sensitive center. A Mother bear is very nurturing and yet when she feels her den, cubs or home is invaded she will lash out with a ferocity that is a force to behold in order to protect her own, her family, her security and her emotional center. Another image that comes to mind is the monster from the movie ALIEN. If you examine the theme of that movie she is just looking for a place to nest, start a family and lay her eggs and she will do anything to make a new home for herself and her family.
Family means so much to this sign so we will focus on what that means in our lives right now especially as we are coming out of a long period of Covid lockdown. What, who, where, and why are the questions to ask concerning how to satisfy one's needs regarding the issues and definitions surrounding the word "family". How are you defining that term? How are you establishing a stronger sense of bonding and security so that your core needs are being met? It's of utmost importance to feel safe and sound with a strong concrete base from which to go out and explore the world knowing that there is always a loving home waiting for you upon your return. It's time to focus on establishing a strong home base. Cancer is always determined to get its needs met even if it acts in selfish ways. When it feels safe and secure then it opens up its home to others but when it feels threatened it holds on for dear life and doesn't allow anyone into its inner sanctum. In this time period nurture your heart, your family and honor your roots and history and remember from where you came and where you are going. This sign often can be sentimental about the past and lost memories of youth. Memories are wonderful if they inform the present and future but they're not so great when the tendency is to escape into the past because you're afraid of the future. We should learn from the past but its never a good idea to live in the past for too long. Take a trip down memory lane but don't stay to long at the fair! |
