There’s an important and volatile full moon in Taurus culminating late Friday night into early Saturday morning that has all the earmarks of an “October Surprise”. Normally a Taurus Full Moon lights up issues surrounding material security. This one is no different in essence, but the form it takes may not be the most comfortable, soothing or conservative energy to enhance or shift that security. The degree of this full moon occurs at an exact conjunction with the planet Uranus. Uranian themes color the entire weekend with ramifications that last into the future. The style with which Uranus colors life events are to expect the unexpected, a roller coaster ride, chaos, things reverse and move in an opposite direction, a 180° shift, divorces, separations, earthquakes, sudden out of the blue events, break-ups, break-outs, break-downs break-throughs, enlightenment and epiphanies. Just last night here in NYC high winds sent a crane tossing and turning high above a tall skyscraper, knocking debris off that came falling from the sky. Luckily no one was hurt but this is the type of energy of which I’m talking. Also, the temperatures here in the northeast are plummeting at least 30° in a short amount of time and a cold wet rain is turning into snow in many areas with the sudden and shocking shift in temperature.
Personally, these disruptive events happen in the house that the full moon occurs. This is an erratic energy and we are taken off guard by what the surprise is, so in some ways it’s hard to be prepared. Yet, the catchphrase “expect the unexpected” is the best way to deal with things and therefore it is a highly predictive type of energy. Let’s see how this plays out on the political front with Election Day only 4 days away concurrent with a Mercury direct station. This also can be the type of awareness that shakes and knocks you out of a rut that you’ve been stuck in for a very long time. If you’ve been sinking in quicksand then revelations occurring now may be just the right thing to shock you into an important shift and change. The Taurus energy this time around is about not being complacent. It’s essential to make change to the status quo. Business as usual is over and you may need some kind of revolutionary energy to deliver the freedom needed to break you away from the shackles that bind you to a burdensome material existence. It’s about a reinvention of the material world and its resources that support you. Taurus is a very physical and body oriented sign therefore much of this energy may be sourced through the body in terms of diet, physical activity, nutrition and disease. As a money-oriented sign let’s continue to monitor the stock markets and our own personal bank accounts. On a more deeply psychological level pay attention to your inner self worth and self-esteem by being more creatively inventive about your innate talents, resources and gifts. You may be surprised as to what your true calling really is as you learn to apply those talents in new and innovative ways. One last image is that of an electric lightning bolt thrown from the sky thrusting into a giant redwood tree. Instead of splicing it in half and burning it down there is a reanimation of life and matter that brings a rebirth. Dr. Frankenstein tried to bring the dead back to life with dire consequences. It’s not about playing God in a way where you are looking for unbridled power outside yourself but about looking to see how your inner God/Goddess can enlighten the power within making it sourced from the heart center thereby benefiting yourself and society at large. Happy Halloween!!! While the Sun squares Pluto all day it will be of utmost importance to use the diplomacy of the Libra Moon to continually find balance. Negotiations may be fraught with more intensity than usual, so it's wise to gain perspective while navigating challenging confrontations and deal making decisions. Apply a lighter, more delicate touch while assuming a determined stance. It's important to make your points firmly and strongly but don't over push or demonstrate desperation. If up against a road black better to back off and reflect. It may be more important to re-freshen strategies. Because the Moon has a deadish feeling in its balsamic phase, let certain things peel away in preparation for a clearer beginning on Friday's Libra New Moon. We are in the Libra time of year but today has a Scorpionic tinge with Pluto in strong aspect to the Sun along with Mercury in Scorpio moving slowly backwards in the sky as it only turned retrograde Tuesday night. Intuitions, feelings and hunches swirl in the air and heart. There may be a twinge of sentimentality as memories of the dead or the past invade the thoughts. For many these weeks can reveal secrets long hidden that suddenly and/or shockingly come to light. If these revelations are positive then handle the energy wisely and productively, but if the fall-out from these revelations is more disturbing then it is important to process the information mentally and emotionally before acting out. You want to make sure you are coming from the heart center and not acting out of the rawness of bitterness or resentment. Bitterness, jealousy and resentment, are strong feelings that must be honored, processed, understood and allowed to sink into one's being and transformed into more productively powerful energy as it is redistributed and re-expressed. Everything is being accelerated. I heard a quote from Fareed Zakaria this morning that is very apt: “There are decades when nothing happens and then there are weeks when decades happen.” We are going through one of those weeks, and I would stretch that to the end of the year. Why are these weeks so crazy and full of upheavals? There are several reasons and I’ve outlined the overview of the year in many previous articles that you can read on this blog but the big thing right now is Pluto. The pandemic degree occurred on the 1/12/20 conjunction of Saturn and Pluto at 22.46 Capricorn. That set off 2020 on its chaotic, evolutionary spiral. At the top of October Pluto stationed direct exactly on this pandemic degree, sitting there and moving at a snail’s pace for the next two months. This is like having an elephant sitting on your belly, smothering, suffocating and squeezing the bile out as it explodes through every possible orifice. Just when you think there is no more putrid sludge clogging the drain another piece of fecal matter is ejected, emitted and expunged. The muck spurts, spits, smears and stains anything in its explosive path. The flies and vultures come to fester on the rotting corpses and decaying matter. Saturn and Pluto are spinning around the orb of this degree; Saturn adds pressure while Jupiter expands the intensity of both Saturn and Pluto. We also have a very unpredictable, chaotic and roller coaster Mercury retrograde whose effects will be felt through the end of November leading up to the Lunar Eclipse. Mercury is in secretive Scorpio opposing truth seeking Uranus. This opposition exposes secrets, dirt, mysteries and financial misdeeds. This aspect throws everything into a tailspin as more and more erratic and unexpected information is shockingly revealed. It’s like a pinball that bounces off one bumper into another, then another and then another because of the constant topsy-turvy information, confusion and general instability. It is mind boggling what continues to come to light on a daily basis. We’re looking to decipher the obfuscated truth through all the smoke and mirrors. Mars retrograde thrown into the mix says you will run into trouble by fighting in your accustomed way. The usual mode of taking action and demonstrating strength, power and aggression will now backfire. An opposite or more thoughtful tactic is advised that is less about bullying and bluster, and more about being an iron fist in a velvet glove. It’s advisable to find a new ways of expressing Martial forcefulness by reversing tactics and strategies. Therefore, for those who are timid, shy and unassertive the retrograde of Mars may be about getting in touch with your inner warrior and expressing your Yang energy in more blunt, overt and assertive ways. Don't forget that the Saturn/Jupiter conjunction at 0 Degrees Aquarius at the top of 2021 is ushering in a new era and a new economy. There's an evolutionary world view that involves adapting to new technologies, shifting politics and a radically changed work place. In adapting to the new you can't leave behind what is good about the past. It's important not to make that tragic mistake. There are many groups of people who feel justifiably left behind and it is important to listen to them. Do not ostracize the disenfranchised but give them space and room to grow and adapt into the change. We should whittle away and throw out that which is antiquated, archaic and worn out. Yet, there is much to value in the structures and traditions of the past and they can help to enlighten new ideas. Let's honor that which is noble about the past and let's learn lessons from our not so noble history. There is much to revise and change. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. I’m singing and taking Yoga classes to recalibrate. Find something that works for you. |
