As the Saturn/Pluto conjunction culminates with the Cancer Lunar Eclipse and Uranus station you’ll be asked to throw out the ossified past and look for new family, groups, alliances and teams with which to move into the future. What are your core values and which structures and traditions from the past will buttress and support your new future and which need to be tossed out with the worn and outdated?
Society and its rules and regulations must dictate how we live our lives to some extent otherwise we’d be living in chaos and anarchy, but we mustn’t adhere to those structures, rules and regulations to the point of denying our true selves and unique, individual spirit. This is a magnificent movie that encapsulates much of what’s going on in society. The theme repeated throughout this movie is “To Thine Own Self Be True”. This is a clip from Douglas Sirk’s masterpiece on middle class morays and values and while it shows a rather nasty side of human behavior the movie contains an incredibly beautiful message underneath its glossy veneer. Watch the entire movie if you can. Repeated viewings are essential because at first you may think you’re watching a superficial, glossy soap opera, but it is a far more serious social commentary beneath the surface and still resonates today. ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS. Starring Jane Wyman, Rock Hudson and Agnes Moorehead. Directed by Douglas Sirk. Produced by Ross Hunter. Released in 1955 by Universal pictures. Comments are closed.
